International buyers make up a large proportion of those who purchase property in central London and there is a very good reason for this.
Central London is a highly desirable place, with excellent transport links, schools, local amenities and much more. As a result, demand for property is high.
This is the perfect combination for property investors, and it is why the prime London property market has remained largely unscathed following the economic downturn of 2025/6.
What this means for those planning to search for London property to rent is that there are some beautiful flats, apartments and houses to rent in some of London’s most desirable locations.
One of those locations is Pimlico.
Situated in the SW1 postcode, it has a village charm that is difficult to find in a city as big and bustling as London.
In recent years, Pimlico has become one of the best places to live in London, and there are several reasons for this,” say Mirko at Ovitzia London.
Property developments
A series of high-end regeneration projects is underway in Pimlico, which will see some fabulous riverside properties come to market in the coming months and years.
Riverside property is always popular with buyers and renters, and the developments currently under construction are likely to attract significant interest from both domestic and international buyers.
What this will give Pimlico is a wonderful blend of both modern and traditional homes.
The majority of the property in the area is residential, characterised by Georgian and Victorian terrace houses, which over the years have been converted into apartments and flats for rent.
There are some purpose-built flats in the area, so if you prefer more modern surroundings, you have plenty of choice.
If you are looking for flats for rent in Pimlico, there is no shortage of options. However, given its central London location, rental prices are high and are unlikely to fall, given the demand from young professionals keen to live there.
Attractions
Pimlico is home to the Tate Britain gallery and offers you easy access to the glitz and glamour of the West End.
Between Chelsea and Westminster, on the bank of the Thames, you will find Pimlico Gardens, a beautiful collection of cultivated gardens that are enjoyed by dog walkers, runners and those keen to spend a day outside.
Transport
Pimlico, as you would expect from a central London location, has superb transport links, whether you want to travel by rail, underground, car or bus.
Victoria Station (which is also being updated) offers you both underground and overground access, and you also have Pimlico Tube Station on the Victoria Line.
The District and Circle lines can also be accessed from Victoria Underground, so getting from one place to another should not be too much of a problem.
Shopping and eating out
Property in Pimlico may be expensive, but that does not mean the restaurants are. Many eateries serve wonderful cuisine at prices not often seen in central London.
Among the highlights are About Thyme and Mekong, which offer you European and Vietnamese fare, respectively.
When the time comes to indulge in some retail therapy, there are plenty of independent boutiques, small clothing shops, and other interesting outlets to explore.
You should also be sure to visit the Farmer’s Market which is open in Orange Square on Saturday mornings.
All of these factors have helped Pimlico become one of London’s most sought-after locations and with lots of investment coming into the area, it looks likely to become even more desirable.
